Before being a Chief of Police in Bend, Oregon, Jim spent 17 years working with a SWAT team and also in a narcotics division, all of which created high levels of stress. In a very short time, Porter turned the department around, and because of its national reputation—it won the U.S. Department of Justice Officer Wellness Award in 2018.

Deschutes County Fairgrounds RV Park and Tent Spaces: Guests must call the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center RV Park directly at 541-585-1569, ask for Debora Shuping and then request the Rotary District 5110 RV space rate ($38.00/per night). There is a block of 30 spaces reserved. They are released to the general public on July 15. If you would like to reserve an electrified tenting space, please ask.
The Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center is a 132-acre site located in Redmond, Oregon. It is placed strategically at the hub of the tri-county area (Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook Counties) together known as Central Oregon. It is 15 minutes from Bend, the largest city, 20 minutes from Prineville, 20 minutes from Sisters, 25 minutes from Madras, and 5 minutes from the Redmond Airport.
